Coming Soon to Your TV

The film A Midwife's Tale, based on the eponymous book by Phillips professor of early American history Laurel Thatcher Ulrich and directed by Richard Rogers '67, Ed.M. '70, senior lecturer on visual and environmental studies, premieres nationally on the Public Broadcasting Service on January 19. The making of the movie--which uses documentary and narrative techniques in dramatizing the diaries kept by Martha Ballard (1735-1812), a midwife in Maine--was described in this magazine's November-December 1995 issue.
