Honoring Alumni Interviewers

Miller-Hunn Award recipients

This year’s Miller-Hunn Awards recognize eight alumni for their volunteer efforts to recruit and interview prospective undergraduates. (The original award, which honored Hiram S. Hunn, A.B. 1921, now also honors retired admissions officer Dwight D. Miller, Ed.M. ’71.)

David Thomas ’68, A.M. ’73, J.D. ’79, of Greenwood Village, Colorado, has served on the schools and scholarships committee since 1969, conducting more than 400 interviews.

Ellen Villa George ’93 and Patrick R. George ’93, M.B.A . ’99, of Naples, Florida, met as members of Harvard’s track team during their first year. They began interviewing candidates in Chicago in 1993, have since moved on to meeting applicants in Houston and Southwest Florida, and have chaired the Naples schools and scholarships committee for the last decade.

R. Scott Spielvogel ’95, of Greenwich, Connecticut, began interviewing in 1996 and has served in various leadership roles on the New York City schools and scholarships committee. He oversees outreach to underrepresented schools in the five boroughs.

Jennifer B. Tombaugh ’90, M.B.A. ’95, of New Haven, Connecticut, has interviewed candidates since 1995 in Atlanta, Taiwan, and Connecticut, and is the schools and scholarships chair for the Harvard Club of Southern Connecticut.

Tom Kardish ’83, of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, began interviewing prospects in 1985 and has served since 2017 as chair of the schools and scholarships committee at the Harvard Club of Philadelphia.

Dana Smith Jamison, M.D. ’84, of Tempe, Arizona, began interviewing in 1986 in Chicago and continued the work with the Harvard Club of Phoenix. In 2018, she became chair of the Arizona schools and scholarships committee.

Gautham Reddy ’85, of Seattle, Washington, has since 1986 interviewed applicants in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Seattle. He has served as the schools and scholarships committee co-chair and as Harvard club president in San Francisco and Seattle, and on the HAA board of directors as director for the Pacific Northwest.
