NOTA BENE. Though its telephone number has remained the same--(617) 496-2222--what used to be the box office for Sanders Theatre, and was located in Memorial Hall, is now called the Harvard Box office and is located on the ground floor of Holyoke Center.

EXHIBITIONS. At the Fogg, "The Shape of Content": The Stephen Lee Taller Ben Shahn Archive at Harvard opens an exhibit of Shahn's prints and drawings on November 27. Remaining on view are Lifeworld: Portrait and Landscape in Netherlandish Prints, 1550-1650; The P.R.B. and Pre-Raphaelite Painting; France and the Portrait, 1799-1870; American Art after 1950; and Gian Lorenzo Bernini: Sketches in Clay. At the Sackler, continuing exhibits include A Grand Legacy: Arts of the Ottoman Empire; Letters in Gold: Ottoman Calligraphy from the Sakip Sabanci Museum, Sabanci University, Istanbul; The Art of Ancient Rome; and Nature as Metaphor: Paintings from China, Korea, and Japan. The Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology opens the exhibit Heads and Tales: Adornments from Africa on December 8. Call 495-2269 for details.

MUSIC. Sanders Theatre offers music for all tastes. Taking the stage this season are the Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum, on November 5; the Harvard-Radcliffe Opportunes and the Harvard Din & Tonics, on November 6; the Radcliffe Choral Society, on November 12; the Harvard Krokodiloes and Harvard-Radcliffe Veritones, on November 13; the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra, on December 3; and the Harvard-Radcliffe Chorus, on December 4. Enjoy free noontime organ recitals on November 7, 11, and 18 at Adolphus Busch Hall. Call 495-9400 for specifics.

At Lowell Hall, the Harvard Wind Ensemble shows off the music of Leonard Bernstein, among others, on December 4, and the Harvard Jazz Band performs Ellington on December 11; both concerts at 8 p.m. Call 496-6013 for information.

For singers, Christmas time means overtime. Holiday music on offer includes the Radcliffe Choral Society and the Harvard Glee Club, at First Church Congregational on December 11 at 8 p.m. (call 496-2222 for details). At Memorial Church, the Harvard University Choir performs Bach's Christmas Oratorio with the Bach Society Orchestra on December 5 at 4 p.m.; the Praetorius Mass for Christmas Day on December 12 at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and the annual Christmas Carol Services, on December 19 at 5 p.m. and December 20 at 8 p.m. Call 496-3192 for details.

THEATRE. Call 547-8300 for tickets to the American Repertory Theatre's productions of Chekhov's Ivanov, opening November 26, or Christopher Durang and Albert Innaurato's play The Idiots Karamazov, starting on December 10.
