Shared Interest Group events—late fall 2010

Late fall Shared Interest Group events

The Harvard Alumni Association has approved more than 30 Shared Interest Groups; a complete list appears at https://post.harvard.edu/harvard/clubs/html/SIGdir.shtml. Harvard Magazine invites SIG officers to share news of their groups' activities in this space. (Send items to classnotes@harvard.edu, using SIG in the "class year" line.)

Harvard Arab Alumni Association

The annual Harvard Arab Weekend (HAW) takes place November 18-21; the theme is "The Arab World: Leading for Tomorrow," with special emphasis on inspiring the next generation of leaders to lead the Arab world toward a brighter future. HAW is one of the most significant efforts to bring the best and brightest of the Arab world to Harvard and open channels of dialogue among leaders in technology, healthcare, education, entrepreneurship, business, government, and academia. President Drew Faust will deliver Harvard's welcome; Queen Noor of Jordan is the keynote speaker. Other speakers include a psychologist-turned-social entrepreneur, a self-made, world-renowned fashion designer, a prominent international journalist, a business tycoon, and many others who, independently and collectively, are making a difference in the Arab world. The weekend is organized by the HAAA and other Arab, Middle Eastern, and North African groups at Harvard. For details, visit www.harvardarabweekend.org.

Harvard Veterans Alumni Organization

There will be a special salute to Harvard veterans and the U.S. military on Veterans Day, November 11, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. HVAO has a limited number of invitations available for its supporters. Contact harvardveterans@verizon.net (note our new e-mail address) for details. Those interested in HVAO should visit www.harvardveterans.org.
