Shared Interest Group events in September and October

The Harvard Alumni Association has approved more than 30 Shared Interest Groups; a complete list appears at https://alumni.harvard.edu/haa/clubs-sigsHarvard Magazine invites SIGs to share news of their activities in this space. Harvard Gender and Sexuality Caucus

HGSC and its partner groups have early-fall events scheduled in Los Angeles, London, and New York City. On the West Coast, there will be an LGBT Alumni Singles Extravaganza at the Palihouse Holloway, in West Hollywood, on September 8 (details at https://tigernet.princeton.edu/~ffr-gala/Events2013/130908SoCal.html). On September 21, head outside for a low-key morning of hiking in Griffith Park along the Observatory Loop, followed by lunch at the Trails Café, in Los Feliz (details at https://tigernet.princeton.edu/~ffr-gala/Events2013/130921SoCal.html). On September 28, try billiards at the Eagle LA in Silverlake (details at https://tigernet.princeton.edu/~ffr-gala/Events2013/130928SoCal.html). On the East Coast, gather for mixed cocktails in Toshi’s Penthouse in the Flatiron Hotel in Manhattan on September 26 (details at https://tigernet.princeton.edu/~ffr-gala/Events2013/130926NYC.html). Across the Atlantic, on October 23, HGSC’s U.K. chapter will have a drinks and canapés networking evening for Harvard, Ivy, and Oxbridge alums and friends in London. Harvard Veterans Alumni Organization

The Harvard Veterans Alumni Organization will be co-hosting the Annual Welcome to Harvard event for new and returning students and fellows who are veterans and active duty military, and their families. We plan a BBQ tailgate party at Soldiers Field prior to the first home football game, against Brown, on the evening of September 28. In addition, we will be hosting informal social gatherings in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Cambridge in early October. Harvardwood

Out West, join Harvardwood and the Beijing Screenplay Competition in Los Angeles this September for a panel event on the Chinese film industry and a ceremony to celebrate the grand prize winner of the contest. Back East, on October 2, Harvardwood NY brings the acclaimed G Sharp Duo to perform “Romantic Music for Violin and Piano” at the Down Town Association.
