Thank You For Reading
Harvard Magazine, founded by alumni, continues to operate as an entirely independent, journalistic nonprofit enterprise devoted to serving readers, keeping you connected with six print issues annually and much additional online reporting on our associated website, harvardmagazine.com.
As an independent news medium serving readers’ interests, we operate very differently from other Harvard news sources. During the past tumultuous year, in John Harvard’s Journal and online, we’ve published lead news stories on issues that concern the greater Harvard community. For example:
- “A Presidency’s End” (March-April) and “Locked In” (May-June)
- “Governance Reform from Below?” (online May 8, 2024)
- “Is Harvard Antisemitic?” (online June 20, 2024)
At the same time, our feature coverage of Harvard scholars’ research and teaching continues to be based on deep reading, interviewing, and reporting—guided by what the editors think will be most important to and engaging for you—from the cover feature on “Capturing Carbon” (May-June) and “A Right Way to Read?” (September-October) to penetrating analyses of homelessness, academic freedom, and the threats that can be posed by new technologies. You won’t find this kind of work anywhere else.
And uniquely in Harvard Magazine, you—our readers—contribute to the contents: through letters to the editor; through class notes (for College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences alumni); and through a wealth of ideas for arts and alumni profiles, new books to cover, and more. (We also welcome alumni readers and others back to Cambridge, Boston, and beyond with the Harvard Squared service section, in print and online.)
We hope we earn your support of our efforts on all readers’ behalf—and we welcome your thoughts on how we can provide a more engaging, useful experience, uniquely in your Harvard Magazine.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation before December 31.
