Navin Kumar ’06, of Kirkland House, and Joshua Reyes ’05, of Leverett House, are this year’s David Aloian Memorial Scholars.

Established in 1988 in honor of David Aloian ’49, a former HAA executive director and master of Quincy House, the scholarships are awarded to two seniors who have made unique contributions to their Houses and to undergraduate life.

Kumar, of Mequon, Wisconsin, helped revive the College Health Initiative program in his House and organized innovative study breaks, including one centered around bhangra, the folk music and dance that originated in the Punjab region of Southeast Asia. He has promoted a love of his culture to Housemates and has excelled at building a sense of House community.

Reyes, of Holbrook, Massachusetts, who graduates in December, was assistant superintendent and prepared on-line blueprints of Leverett’s rooms in order to help students better negotiate the lottery. He also served two years on the House committee and helped plan social events, formals, and other activities.
