Slide Show: Around Africa

A reporter's notebook from travels in Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya

Associate editor Elizabeth Gudrais traveled to Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya in 2009 to report two articles: "Immersed in Africa," on student experiences in Africa, and "The Social Epidemic," on Harvard students' and scholars efforts to address social and behavior factors contributing to the HIV epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa. This slideshow features vignettes from those travels.

(This reporting was supported by a generous gift to Harvard Magazine; a 2010 trip to South Africa provided more material for "The Social Epidemic.")
